Pintails and  Sugartop,  South  Georgia

24 x 20 inches,   Oil on Canvas,   2010

For Sale through South Georgia Heritage Trust  (link on Home Page)

Two South Georgia pintails (Anas georgica georgica ) waddle to the edge of a shallow pool on a grassy terrace overlooking Hamberg Lakes.  Beyond this glacial lake is Mt Sugartop, 2323m (7621 feet) some  8km or 5 miles away, rising above the tumbling overspill from the Hamberg Glacier at its foot.

(Based on  a combination of internet sourced  images, and own photographs from my time working there as a geologist with British Antarctic Survey in 1966 and 1969)
